Véronica is one of the main characters in my story, Dedicated to The Kidz I Fought. Véronica is bracing for the Fall 2008 school semester to begin for Brooke & Willow. Her wallet aching after all the back-to-school shopping. Not to mention Willow's absolute dedication to being a pain when it comes to school.

Véronica is pretty necessary to the town--being the only local automobile & farm equipment mechanic, it doesn't come without its hardships. Tourists usually causing her the most trouble. Though locals have learned to get the fuck over it & bring their cars/equipment to her house.

Despite her attitude, she loves her family & friends. Willing to tear out the throat of anyone that crosses the people she cares about. Despite that she is adament of handling things on her own. Thomas usually having to beg her to let him help her out on ANYTHING.

Considering Thomas & her have grown up in this town, they've seen a lot of the changes & trends come & go. Véronica more so considering she hasn't...really lived elsewhere. Yeah, she's worked outside of town, but she's never strayed far.

Although she believes she's not the most...perfect mom. She loves her job. She loves Brooke & Willow a lot, even when they're being hardasses. Sometimes she wonders why her hair hasn't gone grey yet. Appareciating how Iah makes up for the things Véronica isn't good at. Which is usually the emotional stuff...

what are they like?

Véronica would describe herself as someone that's hard to get along with, & no one has challenged her on this conviction. She's reserved & standoffish. Yeah, she engages in some mundane small talk but her tone comes off as annoyed or rude, intentionally or not. When they were younger, Thomas usually would have to get her out of situations with people that "got tired of her attitude". If Thomas couldn't bail her out, Véronica would usually be able to handle it herself. Whether that be through getting them to back off or making them regret it.
She's tired of Thomas being such a shut in. She tries to push him to meet people & go do fun things since he has the freedom to do so. I mean, there is the trip he takes to Denver every year, but it's usually spent doing things for the girls. Which she gets! but...lord have mercy this man needs someone to love.
Although she DESPISED school herself--she pushes Brooke & Willow to do well in their studies. Especially with how Thomas turned out & how uncertain the future can be--she wants them to be in a better spot than she was when she, barely, graduated.
Véronica would be the first person to tell you she's never really known what she wants. She wound up in apprenticing for a David in her early 20's & just kept on working as a mechanic, Sebastian persued her after a hookup & she wound up married later on, Brooke came along years after that, & Iah & Willow stumbled into their lives & Véronica let them stay. Even her friendship with Thomas just seemed like the most natural thing to go with. Although she feels lucky for the things she has & the people in her life that care about her--she can't help but feel this was a path she never really got to decide on.
Véronica tends to settle for simple pleasures due to the lack of time to get involved in other things. Sitting out on the front or back porch with a cigarette, going out on Saturday to go out drinking & chat with, & her shitty TV time. Yeah, there are things she'd love to do, places she'd love to go, but there's no use crying out possibilties when she's just fine here.
Véronica has a hard time with understand Brooke since they are such different personalities. She doesn't even know, if her upbringing was more like her's, if she'd be remotely like her. She sees a lot of Sebastian in her, which she's happy for, but it makes her job more...difficult since it's been a better part of a decade since he left. She doesn't know whether she's being too harsh on her or too lenient. Yeah she can handle the BS that comes with growing up as a girl but...emotional shit she STILL doesn't know how to handle...Thankfully Iah is usually there to supplement where she lacks.
Véronica has gotten used to people asking if Iah & her are a thing. She's lived with her for years now & Iah didn't start working till very recently. Véronica is upfront that they are not a thing, though they help one another out with Brooke & Willow--pretty much coparenting. Iah helps around the house when Véronica is trying to get as much work in as possible, & they're there for one another when things get tough. Iah appreciates Véronica a lot, & doesn't really understand why them living together is such a topic of conversation. Véronica can't bother to explain it to her.
Although she has the occasional hookup, she holds out hope that Sebastian will come back one day. He didn't just up & leave--it was quite apparent...whatever he was, it wasn't from here. & as someone that isn't the most normal either...she trusts him wholeheartedly. She never really explained the reason to Thomas, so he hold resentment on her behalf since he knows what it's like for a dad to just...up & leave. Brooke faintly remembers him, & over the years she...is content with the fact he may never come back. All she knows is that he adored her & Véronica & one, fantastical day he may return.
