learn about me!

the braindead webmaster behind this site, nogginzmart!

hi, my name is Lee & I run nogginzmart!

A little about me, I'm a 21-year-old college student who loves to
draw, write, & enjoyer of lots of nerdy things!

hi

"why did you make nogginzmart?"

I have wanted to make a website for a while. I made nogginzmart because I always get discouraged posting my content on social media. Not to mention with all the AI running rampant nowadays, I just find little joy being on social media anymore.

I also have a lot of fondness & nostalgia for when I was younger & perusing the internet. I loved being on tumblr, & it still is to an extent the same, & the fun, free nature of it.

So I thought of encapsulating my love for the internet, community, all my creative endeavors, & my insane urge to learn new things (CODING IS HARD) to create nogginzmart!

"what else should we know?"

Oh! Well, as I mentioned before, I am a college student. Not to mention that I have a part time job(s). As a result, I can't be the most chronically online. Though I will do my very best to keep things updated & functioning!

I also have no problem with anyone borrowing things from my site! Everything is pretty much up for grabs, MINUS MY OWN ART!! PLEASE!! Though I borrowed a LOT in the process of making my site, so I'd be a hypocrite not to offer what I've made! THIS IS HARD!!

If you're THAT interested in me, I have a blog if you wanna keep up with what I get up to! I will blog about a plethora of things, which you can get an idea from the tags I have included at the top of that site!

well, I'll be seeing you around!

questions!

"how tall are you?"

  • 5'4'' or 5'5''

" Do you think that creativity involves putting your heart and soul into your work? Or is it more like letting your mind flow freely to witness the surprising results of your actions? "

  • Personally, it's a bit of both.
a lot of my work is very personal to me & is drawn from my own experiences or of those that are or were dear to me. & whatever comes from my mind is usually scenarios to put the characters in or lore intricacies.
  • so yeah, I think any good work has a mix of both.

"Are you a good liar?"

  • I have been told I am not.

"Do you think that creativity involves putting your heart and soul into your work? Or is it more like letting your mind flow freely to witness the surprising results of your actions?"

  • Yes & no. I'm well aware that nothing is inherently original. Though I like to think the way in which I convey things & the perspectives I illustrate might bring out a unique experience.
  • Though I wouldn't be surprised if even that has been seen before. Though in the end I write for me, so whatever anybody gets out of what I make is interesting & valuable nonetheless.

"Are you left or right handed?"

  • I am left handed!

"What do you do to keep yourself motivated and interested in your work?"

  • Uh USUALLY not work myself into the grave when it comes to work & school. If I'm unmotivated to do that, I'm typically unmotivated to create.
  • Otherwise I like watching new shows, movies, videos, & looking at things like Pinterest to get gears turning. Plus looking at different sites on here gives me inspiration & motivation to least work on my page!

"Do you talk to yourself?"

  • ...yes

"Were you ever discouraged? If so, how did it it affect your creativity?"

  • I've been discouraged a lot over the years. Most of the time being when I was trying to participate in the rat race that was getting popular on platforms like Tumblr or Instagram.
  • I've come to terms with the fact that, popular or not, that shouldn't effect how I create & I shouldn't compare the success of others to my ability to create. I like my stuff & that's all that matters.
  • Plus like...creating for the sake of compliments is such a terrible form of motivation? Don't do that--even if fucking normies don't like it, YOU like your work.

"What was an embarrassing moment?"

  • I am a professional embarrassment, so I have a lot of stories.
  • During my 7th grade awards day, It was like halfways through the ceremony. A friend of mine was called & went up to get his award, & I yelled out "NERD!". Now, we ALWAYS called each other nerd, so I never saw anything wrong with it.
  • I never got in trouble with my teachers or anything, but his AUNT came up to me, got in my face, & was saying all this shit about how horrible I was. My mum & dad almost beat her ass.
  • I talked to him afterward & he didn't seem that phased by it. Though who knows--it might've. We never talked that much after that year.

"Do you critique your own work?"

  • Oh, ABSOLUTELY!
  • I'm a big proponent of constantly improving & learning. Plus I don't want to get a big head & think my stuff is the best in the world. Especially when I'm not liking how a project or piece is going, I go through in my head "what about this is not meshing with me?"
  • Now this usually isn't a fix overnight deal, but I know what I can work on & study overtime to get better at this shortfall.

"Do you smoke or drink?"

  • No & yes.
  • I do like the smell of cigarettes, but unless everything goes wrong in life I don't see myself actually starting to smoke. Plus I think vaping is for pussies (don't take that personally).
  • I do drink, though I hate the taste of alcohol. So it's usually like...a fruity little drink. I never drink to get drunk, it's just for a nice little drink.

"Has rejection ever affected your creative process?"

  • Yes? Like other than being an inspiration for things I write about, I have had run ins with people that care/did care about me say shit that made me feel horrible about the things I make & projects I've had.
  • Though that's seldom happened since High school--mostly since I've decentered the approval of others as motivation to keep creating.

"If someone handed you a million dollars, what are you going to do with it?"

  • pay off my college education, get top surgery, build my own PC, & set the rest aside for rent.
  • would buying a house be nice? yes! but I do not make enough to pay things like utilities once all the cash dries up. No shame in living small!

"What was the biggest opposing force that you encountered on your creative journey?"

  • My opposition to feeling uncomfortable or pushing myself to try new things. I put off learning digital art for the longest time because...I already liked how I did traditional, why would I do this??
  • but with what I want to do with my art, learning digital was necessary & inevitable. Plus it's been so much more convenient & easier on my wallet.

"What is one thing you absolutely cannot live without?"

  • airconditioning & central heating. I lived in a dorm that was built in the 60s & it didn't have that & I was MISERABLE. I loved the space I had but FUCK was I hot in the summer & freezing in winter.
  • I own 2 fans but sometimes it just isn't enough. Plus I like cold weather but since I've gotten my auto immune disorder regulated, for the most part, I'm actually experiencing being cold during the winter. so yeah! I would rather not deal with that again!

"What do you do to get into your creative zone?"

  • Music typically--like something that jives with the vibe I'm going for. I also like looking at different pieces I've made before & getting into the mindset or remind myself the specific way I tell/write this specific story, character, or project.
  • Also...make sure I don't have any other extenuating responsibilities that I need to get to first before I start creating for, potentially, hours.
