• Spark is a Mountain Dew flavor initially released exclusively in Speedway gas stations for a limited time in late Summer of 2020 and 2021 before being released as a permanent nonexclusive flavor nationwide since January 2022 in the United States. In February 2024, Major Melon and Spark (as well as their Zero Sugar variants) became regional permanent flavors until January 2025, when both flavors were discontinued.
• Spark is a Raspberry Lemonade flavor of Mountain Dew. It is pink in color.
• When Spark was first exclusively released in Speedway gas stations, its color had more of a homemade darker pinkish-red look feeling in both limited-time releases.
• In its permanent nationwide release in January 2022, PepsiCo decided to reformulate the flavor slightly enough that it had a lighter pink color and a slight flavor difference. The color change was likely not to confuse Major Melon's and Spark's similar colors.

2020 Limited-Time Release

• On March 7th, 2020, in a r/MountainDew Reddit post, Spark was first leaked by a PepsiCo employee, showing a 20-ounce test bottle. The employee didn't specify which franchise would have Spark as an exclusive flavor or a target release date. It was later confirmed to be exclusive to Speedway gas stations a week later as leaked from a marketing survey of an early promotional concept art.
• On July 17th, 2020, in a r/MountainDew Reddit post, a PepsiCo bottle worker posted a photograph of a cold Spark bottle in hand from the line of the bottling factory. The bottle worker stated it would be available within the next few weeks.
• On July 22nd, 2020, in a r/MountainDew Reddit post, the target release date was revealed to be August 3rd, 2020, from an Ohio bottler, G&J Pepsi confirmed it in an email.
• Spark was officially released in Speedway gas stations in North and South regions in the United States on August 3rd, 2020, and only sold in 20-ounce bottles for a limited time until October 2020, and was sold out within its few weeks of its release. Its first limited-time release was promoted by a "Revvv Up Your DEW Den" sweepstake promotion that consumers can enter to win weekly Spark-themed prizes and select consumers would be able to receive a free case of 20-ounce bottles.

2021 Limited-Time Release

• In May 2021, in a deleted r/MountainDew Reddit post, a user posted an image of two upcoming flavors, Spark, a returning flavor and Uproar, a new flavor for 2021.
• On July 21st, 2021, in a r/MountainDew Reddit post, a Reddit user found bottles of Spark in their local Speedway. This sighting was the first sighting, with further sightings appearing after.
• Due to high demand, Spark was officially re-released in Speedway gas stations in the United States in August 2021, only sold in 20-ounce bottles for a limited time until October 2021. Its second limited-time release was promoted by "Year of Dew" sweepstake promotion that when consumers buy a bottle of a Spark, they can scan the bottle to advance on the virtual racetrack, and with each lap around the track, fans gain an entry into three different prize checkpoints throughout the 11-week program until they cross the finish line.

2022 Permanent Release

• On September 12th, 2021, redesigns of multiple renders and test bottles were discovered and reported on the Dew Drinker Discord. This discovery indicated that Spark and a zero sugar variant were getting re-released eventually as a permanent flavor.
• After this discovery, Spark was no longer exclusive to Speedway gas stations and turned into a permanent flavor from high demand to the U.S. lineup.
• These two limited-time runs are similar to how LiveWire was released as a permanent flavor after two limited-time runs and Baja Blast after its many limited-time runs before being turned into a permanent flavor.
• Due to high demand from its second limited-time release, Spark, alongside a new Zero Sugar variant, was released[13] as a permanent nonexclusive flavor nationwide in January 2022 in the United States. It was available in various sizes, such as 20-ounce bottles, 16-ounce/16.9-ounce 6-packs, and fountain form.

February 2024 National Discontinuation

• On September 23rd, 2023, it was leaked by Team Supernova that VooDEW 6.0 (United States), alongside its Zero Sugar variant, would be releasing in Fall 2024 with a collaboration of a top candy brand. Additionally, Kroger-exclusive Thrashed Apple would be nationally discontinued alongside Major Melon, Spark at the end of 2023, alongside the entirety of the Mountain Dew Energy line in January of 2024 with the then-discovered Mountain Dew Energy (Liberty Brew) and Mountain Dew Energy (Baja Laguna Lemonade).
• On December 8th, 2023 Team Supernova gave an update that Major Melon and Spark alongside their Zero Sugar variants will stay in the "Must Carry" list, meaning they became regional flavors in February 2024 and would remain that way.

January 2025 Regional Discontinuation

• On October 15th, 2024, Team Supernova posted an update on Major Melon's and Spark's alongside their Zero Sugar variant's regional status to be "out of market" in January 2025. It's also shown that the Walmart exclusive, Frost Bite is set to be "out of market" in May 2025 as Walmart didn't renew the contract of its status. The two flavors were ultimately discontinued on said month.
• This flavor is the first flavor exclusive to a franchise only for a limited time and not permanently like Frost Bite at Walmart. This flavor is potentially the second time a Dew flavor used to be exclusive to a store for years, then released permanently outside of the said store. The first instance was Baja Blast's release in Canada, where it is now a permanent flavor.
• Spark is one of two Dew flavors to be permanent after a couple of limited time runs, not counting nationwide DEWmocracies. The only other Dew flavor to achieve this was LiveWire. • White Out, through its limited-time Circle K/Couche-Tard Summer 2022 release, Spark and Major Melon in late 2025, and Supernova in 2026 are the only four flavors originally released in the U.S. that have ever received a redesign outside of the United States. All four were redesigned for the Canadian market.

• I yearn for Mountain Dew Spark. I yearn for it like a parent who's child is out at war. I want them to come home. I miss them & it was SO FUCKING GOOD!! I tend to have a curse of getting attached to seasonal flavors, so I knew at some point Spark would be gone. But, nonetheless, I like to hold out hope for it to come back.
• Plus...Mountain Dew has just had a very interesting history with their flavors & advertising? I don't know, I ended up watching a 5 hour video, something around that, that was covering the history of all the Mountain Dew flavors & I found it so fascinating!
• We also just...need more lemonade-esque sodas? It's like the best of both worlds! Spark was like sweet & tangy with that lemon flavor then the fizz of the soda & the raspberry just added to it with sweetness! It was so good! At one point in my freshman dorm I had like...3 12 packs of it (I have a problem with hoarding food).
• I...initially tried it because I would steal what sodas my younger sister had in the minifridge we had upstairs. The can looked interesting & I've always enjoyed the flavor descriptions Mountain Dew does on their cans! I was like 'oooo...lemon raspberry' & drank it. Then I was hooked. My sister stopped getting them at some point & then I started getting them. I eventually went to University & it was a regular in my dorm!
• Though it was around the end of my freshman year when Spark stopped showing up at Walmart. Which was 2023-2024, so that lines up with the official discontinuation. What was weird is that I thought it was because of the recall of lemonade flavors at the time. Who knows, there was no official statement that that was the case.
• I tried to replace Spark in my heart--Sunkist had a berry lemonade flavor I drank a lot during my Sophomore year, but now that is discontinued.
• Also during the summer before my...not so Junior year (more like Sophomore year part 2) I drank another Mountain Dew flavor, Summer Freeze. Which the Mountain Dew Wiki describes the flavor "Summer Freeze was reminiscent of a popsicle with red (cherry), white (lemon), and blue (raspberry) flavors". So it wasn't too different from Spark, honestly! I was probably creating this website while drinking delicious Mountain Dew Summer Freeze!! Though when I moved into my current apartment, I couldn't find it anymore.
• & Since I've just defaulted to orange Sunkist. I have VERY RECENTLY starting drinking Mountain Dew Voltage. It's just raspberry flavored, it's really good, though!
